Review: Miss Match Colour Changing Nail Polish

Recently I've been seeing a lot of positive stuff about thermal/colour changing nail polish so I thought it was about time I gave it a go. My first search resulted in many products that seemed to require UV lights to set them, which for me, wasn't very practical. I soon saw 'Miss Match' polish bottles popping up. I read many mixed reviews on Amazon about this brand but it seemed to heavily depend on which colour you chose; some were brilliant, some were rubbish and had poor definition between the colour change. I took a look through google images to get an idea of what to expect and then went for one of the colours that had the better reviews.

The colour I went for was #286 Pink Mood costing £3.49 from eBay with free delivery. I'll post an image below to show how the polish went on layer by layer.Obviously, I can only speak for the colour that I picked at the moment, so all results may not be the same.

Hot Pink = Cold
Bubblegum Pink = Warm

The consistency of the varnish is extremely thin and basically transparent when painted on, you just get a mild tint with the first coat. This does improve with more layers however, 5 later and you can still see the natural half moon of the nail through the polish when you have warm hands (bubblegum pink), though it is not so noticeable when the hands are cold. The drying time per layer is surprisingly fast, so that's a big plus.

Very occasionally I will look at them and there will be a very cool effect where the main part of the nail is bubblegum pink and the tips are hot pink. It's fun and cute but doesn't last for long because my hand temperature is constantly changing.

Here are some photos taken when using a tap to change the colour. A video of the change can also be found on Instagram HERE!
Warm tap.

Cold tap.

If you have a circulation problem or Raynauds disease you may not find this product very useful. When I look at mine, I often end up with two fingers in bubblegum/transparent pink and the rest in hot pink, which looks a little strange. Most of the time they remain entirely hot pink due to the almost permanent coldness of my hands. It's a great heat indication tool though! :)

Overall Rating: ★★★☆☆

Price: £3.49
Consistency: ★☆☆☆☆
Drying: ★★★★☆
Effect: ★★★★☆

It's a fun product that can create a beautiful effect, however I suspect that many would not be too happy that the colour is not more solid. The colour when in 'warm' mode is very transparent. In a few days I will test it with a white base layer to see if that improves things in any way. Well worth testing though!
