31 Day Challenge - Red Nails

It's the first of April, which means that providing this isn't a horrible April Fool's trick, today is the first day of the 31 Day Challenge... eeek! Even if it is, never mind :D. After the Christmas Advent Challenge I decided that I wouldn't be doing another one of these because I've found the pressure to produce so many designs so quickly ends up making me a little sad and puts me off something I usually really enjoy. However, it's been a few months now since Christmas and with the encouragement from some of the lovely NPQ ladies I agreed to join in. We're not being super strict and allowing some stocking up due to people being so busy and away.

I attempted the 31 Day Challenge last year but had to stop after about day 20 because I ended up going to a conference in France and then over to Wales so it all kind of fell apart. This year I've been trying to be super organised and planned everything out so hopefully this year I'll be able to see this through to the end. My brain is still a little fried after trying to think up what to do with each day but I've found a huge stack of post-it notes really help with this.

I'll be trying my best to keep the blog posts up to date but its doubtful there will be lengthly explanations for each one. Each post will include the polishes and tools used and a brief description of any specific techniques to create the effect. Where gradients and stamping have been used I will link to the guides that are already written up,

Today's set was actually my second attempt as something just wasn't right with the first set (below) even though the stamping below the glitter did give a little more texture. I liked the accent nail pattern more so went with that on all the nails. I achieved this by painting two layers Shade 41 and waiting for them to dry fully. Using masking tape, I then cut out triangular sections and carefully stuck them down onto the nail. Then, using Sardonyx, I painted over the nail and masking tape then promptly removed the masking tape. Once that was dry I added on the gem using a little blog of Seche and a toothpick, then covered the whole nail with Seche once the gem had set.
