NPQ Challenge: Game of Thrones Nails

The long wait is over and finally Game of Thrones returns to our screens this weekend, yey!! I can't wait :)

This weeks NPQ challenge mirrors this theme. At first I thought I'd run a mile but I decided not to chicken out with some queenie encouragement.

One thing I definitely wanted to try was to make a dragon egg texture on one of the nails using layered glitter pieces. The rest of the set was a really complicated mash of tracing and half painting.

Using a toothpick and some Seche, I hand placed each individual glitter pieces in lines, overlapping each new line over the previous a little. One that was dry I mixed some Snow Me White and Dusk together and used a foundation sponge to dab the varnish over the glitter. Once the purple glitter was covered and the varnish was dry, I used a dry brush to accent the edges by dipping it in Aztec Gold, zshhing it on some paper to remove most of the varnish and gently run the brush up the nail and hopefully the gold will just catch the edges to accent it.

The rest of the nails were just as fiddly. I found a picture of the Game of Thrones house sigils online and printed it off. Using Listerine I transferred the print onto the finger then slightly painstakingly hand painted over the print with a very very fine nail art brush. This took about 3 layers but I think it came out okay in the end. Now that I've discovered how wonderful Listerine is for transferring print, it will be used a lot more in future! Yey :) Big thanks to +Magali Neuville-Bisceglia for the suggestion during a hangout <3
